Explore and Book the Air and Space Tour

In 1917, during World War I and only fourteen years after the Wright Brothers’ first flight in 1903 at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA, predecessor or NASA) selected Langley Field as a center for the development of military aviation. Over the next couple decades, Langley Field, which became Langley Air Force Base in 1948, hosted units and organizations whom developed and tested air power concepts which would inform strategies employed during World War II, pre- and post-Cold War, and twenty-first century conflicts. Langley later would host the Langley Research Center, a part of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Our tour will focus on areas around Langley as we explore its impact, the people who made events happen, and the continuing contributions Langley makes to the nation. We will also explore other subjects of aviation of which the Hampton Roads peninsula hosted or impacted in some significant way.

Instructions for Booking (if able, recommend printing this page to follow along with our booking option feature):

  • Locations: Select your pickup/drop off location; a number of popular places are available under “Williamsburg Hotels,” but if your desired location is something other than these, select “Other” and specify that in the Customer Information page later.
  • Available Tours: Select the “Air and Space Tour.”
  • Outside Engagement options: Please note that the projected tour time (three hours) is keyed to “Short walking option.” Generally speaking, it will take less time for “No walking-stay in the minivan,” which might be closer to a two and a half hours.
  • Total Attendees: Use the numerical dial to adjust the total amount in your party.
  • Date & Time Selection: Available dates have a green line at the bottom of the date; then a container, “Pick a slot for…” appears most often with two time slots, one morning and one afternoon; if you need to adjust the time (8 AM or 1 PM) up to an hour before or after, still select the morning or afternoon option but note later in the Customer Information page your desired time.
  • Customer Information: Here is where you put any notes under “Add Comments” which require my attention and a response back to you. Please give me 24 hours to get back with you.
  • Verify Order Details: If you qualify for a discount here (either Senior Citizen or Active Duty or Retired Military), click on the “Have a discount code?” at the bottom right. Add D10 to the “Enter Code” container, then click on the “Apply” button to the right. Confirm as the window refreshes that a new lower total price has been correctly calculated. If correct, press the blue “Checkout” button on the bottom right.
  • Enter your payment information: Follow instructions on the window, and when complete press the “Submit” button on the lower right. If you do not get a Confirmation page (with an order number) and instead get a swirling wait cursor, your payment likely went through, and I have the information I need. I will ALWAYS confirm this with you through an email, so look to receive that in 24 hours or less. If you do NOT receive this email, contact me immediately and we will work together to ensure you are scheduled!

On the day of the tour

  • I will meet you at the designated location in person (the minivan will be close by)
  • Please have your national park pass and/or ID to verify the discount (either Senior or Military)
  • Feel free to bring water or coffee if in a closed cup as well as light snacks
  • Be ready to have fun!

Refund Policy: our customers will receive a full refund or credit with 24 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. No-shows and late arrivals will be charged the full price.
